New Mandatory Commercial Recycling Law

Bins with Wheels

Debris Bin with Wheels Available only in 1, 2, 3 and 4 cubic yards. Wheeled garbage containers are recommended for customers who plan to store the bins in an enclosed area and must have the bins moved to an area accessible to a collection truck on their service day.

Following are guidelines for customers using wheeled containers:

Pull the container from storage and place it outside for servicing before 4 a.m. of your service day.
Leave the container on a level surface and in an area that is accessible from the street. The collection truck will need a roadway that is at least 30 feet wide.
The area around the container should be clear of any overhead obstructions.

Bins without Wheels

Bin without wheels Available only in 5, 6 and 8 cubic yards. Stationary garbage containers are suitable for areas that are easily reached by the customer and the collection truck servicing the containers.

The containers must be stored on a level surface.
For safety reasons, the area surrounding the container must also be level with at least 10 feet of space between the front portion of the container and any nearby wall or object.
The container must be stored in a location that is free of any overhead obstructions.

California's new Mandatory Commercial Recycling Law

With the passage of (Chapter 476, Statutes of 2011 [Chesbro, AB 341]), California is one of the first states in the nation to enact a statewide program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by diverting commercial solid waste from landfills.

State mandatory recycling for businesses and Multi Family begins July 1, 2012.
State law requires all businesses that generate 4 or more cubic yards of waste weekly to recycle.
State law requires that apartment communities/multi-family housing with 5 or more units must recycle.

It is against the law to discard paint, automobile fluids, chemicals, pesticides, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, CFLs, needles & lancets, appliances, and electronics in your garbage or recycling receptacle. Your garbage will not be serviced if it contains any of these items. Please visit our Household Hazardous Waste page for disposal facilities in your area.

Holiday Schedule

Thanksgiving
There WILL be service on Thursday, November 22nd..

Christmas & New Year's
There will NOT be service on Tuesday, December 25th or Tuesday, January 1, 2013. All service that normally falls on a Friday will be pushed back one day to Saturday for these two weeks only.
